Two individuals arrested in Alexandria following threats, firearms incident
OPP announce charges following November 15 disturbance in North Glengarry
Two people are facing charges following a November 15 incident in Alexandria that had police issue a shelter-in-place notice to residents in the area of Lochiel Street and Main Street.
The Ontario Provincial Police were called to a residence on Lochiel Street East residence shortly after 8 p.m. in response to threats. Upon arrival, police found “two people had barricaded themselves in a residence with a female. Members of the SD&G detachment with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Crisis Negotiators attended the scene.
The two individuals, whose names are being withheld to protect the victim, were safely taken into custody. They face the following charges:
Forcible Confinement
Pointing a Firearm
Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
The OPP says, “There were no injuries sustained and no threat to public safety.”
Many locals took to social media to comment on the significant police presence.
The arrested individuals “were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.”
