South Glengarry announces new location for September 21 hazardous waste drop-off
The 2024 edition has moved from Lancaster to Williamstown
Township of South Glengarry residents who have been used to the annual September hazardous waste drop-off being at Smithfield Park in Lancaster will need to look to Williamstown this year, as the event has been moved to Fairview Road at the north end of the village.
The 2024 edition of the household hazardous waste drop-off is scheduled for September 21 in Williamstown, with items to be accepted from 8 a.m. through noon. Proof of address is required.
Attendees are asked to enter Fairview Road from County Road 19 (Johnson Road) and exit at John Street (County Road 17). See the map below (courtesy of Apple Maps).

E-Waste

Fire Extinguishers

Mercury Switches/Thermometers

Oven, Household and Drain cleaners
Paint, Stains and Coatings
Pharmaceuticals
Perfume and Aftershave
Poisons
Pool Chemicals
Propane Cylinders
Needles and Syringes
Turpentine, Furniture & Paint stripper
Oil and Antifreeze Plastic Containers
Solvents (Flammable)
Non-Refillable Pressurized Containers
Refillable Pressurized Containers (non-propane)
All Light Bulb Types (including Incandescent, Halogen, CFLs, HIDs, LEDs, LED tubes, Fluorescent Tubes, UV Bulbs/Tubes and Special Purpose Lamps (e.g. Projector Lamps)
The township notes the following as not accepted: Ammunition, Biological Waste, Commercial Waste (Waste from Businesses), Fireworks and Other Explosives, Flares, Freon Tanks, Fixtures, Balance, and String Lights.
