Alexandria's Christmas parade is a go tonight despite the weather
Freezing rain and winter storm warning won't stop hardy North Glengarrians from ringing in the festive season
The Alexandria & District Lions Club, as organizers of Alexandria’s Christmas parade, announced this afternoon that the event is a go this evening, December 3, despite the current freezing rain and Environment Canada-issued winter storm warning.
Hardy Glengarrians are encouraged to dress for the conditions and line the streets in Alexandria, for the parade which is set to kick off at 6 p.m.
Sources tell me that the weather conditions haven’t stopped Santa’s Elves as they continue to prepare the floats for tonight’s event.
Parade organizers are asking for food donations from spectators. Members of North Glengarry Fire Services will be on hand to collect items in support of our local food bank operated by St. Vincent de Paul.
Here is a map of the planned parade route.
Word has it that Santa is on his way to Alexandria and will make an evening appearance at Island Park, where Youth Unlimited will also be serving up free hot chocolate.
If the weather allows, fireworks will be set off at 8 p.m.
